About Us

Permaforest Pty Ltd has been an environmental land planning and design service provider in the Northern Rivers/Gold Coast hinterland region of Australia since 1997.

Principal consultant, Tim Winton, has worked for over a decade as a sustainability educator, land planning consultant and contractor. Tim has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario, a Diploma in Accredited Permaculture Training and a Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment. He has worked as a commercial plantation forestry contractor, developing a startup business to become one of Australia's largest plantation silviculture service providers. Tim is the founder and director of Permaforest Trust, a not-for-profit sustainability education centre, where he lectures as a senior trainer in a range of sustainability education programs. Tim has participated in a wide variety of property design, land planning and rural project management enterprises, with specialties in sustainable forestry, organic agriculture, permaculture design and business management.

Senior project manager, Marshall Chang, joined Permaforest Pty Ltd in 2007. Following the completion of a Master of Science Degree at James Cook University, Marshall obtained private and government funding to start one of Australia's first commercial seahorse farms. Marshall has since managed a variety of ecological agribusiness projects. He is now a specialist project manager with extensive experience in developing agribusiness from conceptual research and design to commercialisation stages. Marshall has also prepared and reviewed environmental impact assessments. He has experience in the Land and Environment Court and he is a keen environmental field researcher.
